Prof. Dr. Volkan Korten was born in Bursa on 19.09.1957. He graduated from Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He completed his Internal Medicine specialization at Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1985. He received training in infectious diseases at the Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine Internal Medicine Infectious Diseases Unit and the University of Texas – Houston, Infectious Diseases Center. He took part in the establishment of the Infectious Diseases unit at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine since 1989. He became an associate professor at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and a professor in 1999. He served as Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine between 2001 and 2024. He contributed to the training of many experts and faculty members. He has more than 100 articles published in international refereed journals.
